Boston -- Chief Economist of
the Columbia Bank and Trust Co. Rex Harrison, 32, has just released a study
that shows how unemployment works. "It's a feature of capitalism," he
says. "Just like those years with overpopulations of lemmings and owls. You know, the owls have a lot of work and food as
a consequence."
So the government has nothing to do with it. There is
almost nothing the US president can do. Stimulus plans only dampen it, the
length of the cycle remains the same.
What about Trump?
"Oh the tax bill. Yeah, a couple of months of happy times. The market is due for a correction. But the real jobs will be fine for Trump and then the downturn will be with the 2020 term."
But we don't want Trump in there past 2020.
"Well, it would be a bad time for him. He might as well quit after four years."
